Do we need to rescue Chinese language?

Postby admin » Mon Mar 30, 2009 3:14 am

My friend expressed his concern - because of popular usage of computer and pin yin inputting method for Chinese, the Chinese language is in danger.

Less and less Chinese people are writing Chinese. They prefer to write in English in computer if possible because it's faster to input English in computer.

Similar with disappearance of Latin language, Chinese language will die in the future.

What's your opinion?

I don't think Chinese language will ever be extinct. Instead, it becomes more and more popular because of large population of Chinese and more integration, migration and affiliation of Chinese into other countries.

However the beautiful calligraphy writing of Chinese is really in danger. Less people write Chinese now. Not to mention the calligraphy. But it's the same thing for all languages in this modern world now.
